October Foundation Friday

As the holidays approach the Lids Foundation always revs up! We had so much that we wanted to do this year, that we started the spirit of giving a month earlier than usual. In the month of October, we kicked off our Winter Series and gave back to teachers. With more to come as we close out the year!

3rd Annual Teacher Appreciation

For the 3rd year in a row the Lids Foundation partnered with WNBA’s Ariel Atkins to host a Teacher Appreciation event. This year we headed to Ariel’s hometown of Duncanville, TX.

With a wish list from the teachers and a knowledge of what basic supplies are needed, we purchased $20,000 worth of school supplies to be shipped to the District Offices. The day before the big event, over 20 Lids Teammates in the Dallas area arrived to help transport, unpack, and set up.

Teachers arrived the day of thinking they were attending a Bullying Seminar but when the curtains opened on stage to reveal bean bags, rugs, pencils, paper and more they were stunned beyond belief. The school was filled with joy as we helped teachers gather all their supplies and fill their classrooms.

Kicking Off Winter Series

Last year’s Winter Series was such a hit that we decided to spread the love to more kids! This year we will be handed out shoes and hats to over 2,500 kids!

We kicked off our series in Phoenix, AZ with our favorite NFL Quarterback Jacoby Brissett at Kenilworth Elementary School. Students screamed and cheered when they found out that they were getting new shoes and hats for the holiday season. Teachers and Lids Teammates volunteered to help organize the distribution and while lining up the students could barely contain their excitement that they got to also meet Jacoby.

Next up – Alabama, Indianapolis, and Detroit!
