October Foundation Friday

It has been a busy summer! From volunteer events to charitable events, we have lots to share with you. We sponsored many summer camps this past summer as we shared with you in our June Newsletter. As the summer came to a close, we received an overwhelming amount of gratitude from our partners as well as lots of pictures. If you are following along with us on Instagram, you should have seen some of the pictures and posts from our summer camp partners. If you are interested in keeping up to date with our partnerships and special events, follow us on Instagram @lidsfoundation.

The Arc Activation

For the full month of August, we partnered with The Arc by promoting their organization within our Lids Stores and allocating all of our Round Up dollars to go directly to The Arc of the United Sates. This special partnership not only brought awareness about The Arc nationwide but had a true impact on our Lids teammates. Through this effort we were able to raise over $60,000 for The Arc, making it a record of funds raised in the month of August.

This was partnership was a success because of our teammates in the field and we greatly appreciate all of your efforts!

Recent Events

Summer Series

On July 10th, we partnered with the Reds Organization and our Lids Store in Cincinnati to host 4 families from their Youth Baseall & Softball Program. The day started of with a shopping spree in our Lids Store where Ted Harton and his team helped the families get all decked out in Reds Gear. Then the whole crew headed to the Reds Stadium where everyone attended batting practice and got to meet some of the players. The day ended with food from the concessions stands and of course a baseball game. It was definitely a memorable day for the children and their families.

Intern Volunteer Day

Every summer, Lids looks forward to the interns that come to our office full of excitement and fresh ideas. Part of that is one of the interns is given the opportunity to pick a charitable organization and organize a volunteer day with them for our interns. This year Brianna Cordero chose New Hope of Indiana. New Hope is a community dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to live their most fulfilling lives. Brianna arranged for our interns to organize, clean, tend to their vegetable garden, run a game of Bingo, and host a BBQ for all of their members at the facility. Not only did the interns enjoy their day helping out, but the members enjoyed their presence and had a great time.

Corporate Office Packing Event

HVAF of Indiana houses, supports, and advocates for all veterans and their families to help them achieve the best possible quality of life. This September we partnered with them to create two volunteer opportunities for our Lids Teammates packing kits for the homeless.

Our leadership team packed 100 move-in kits that will be given to homeless veterans moving into transitional housing. These kits were filled with essentials like sheets, pillows, hygiene products, etc.

An amazing 500 Emergency Backpacks were packed in 30 minutes by our Lids Teammates. These emergency backpacks will be handed out to homeless veterans on the streets and are filled with essentials like water, hygiene kits, ponchos, hats, etc.

Thank you to all who volunteered and helped with these kits!

Washington Mystics Basketball Clinic

On September 8th, we partnered with Ariel Atkins and the Washington Mystics to host 30 children from the Washington DC Boys and Girls Club. These 30 kids attended a basketball clinic hosted by the Mystics, attended a basketball game, and experienced a meet and greet with Ariel Atkins on the court post-game. It was a wonderful day filled with lots of smiles and memories made!

Teacher Appreciation Day

For the second year in a row, we partnered with Ariel Atkins to host a Teacher Appreciation Day at an underserved school in Washington DC. This year surprised 42 teachers at Moten Elementary School in DC’s Ward 8 District. We were able to supply the teachers with Lids gift cards, Visa gift cards, bean bags, rugs, floor pillows, and school essentials for a full year.

11th Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser

Our 11th Annual Golf outing Fundraiser was a success this year with 136 golfers in attendance at the gorgeous Brickyard Crossings Golf Course. This highly anticipated event could never happen without the over 100 teammates that volunteer every year. Thank you to everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to come out and help raise money for the foundation!
